OceanSTAR Elite Completes Keel Laying for Block B FSO Project Ahead of Schedule
On 22 May 2026, OceanSTAR Elite (“OceanSTAR” or “OSE”) successfully completed the Keel Laying of the Block B FSO Project ahead of schedule at NanTong Strongwind Shipyard in Tongzhou Bay, China.
The ahead-of-schedule completion of the keel laying marks another important milestone for the project following the successful steel cutting ceremony held on 19 December 2025, signifying that the project has entered a new critical phase of construction ahead of plan.
The ceremony was attended by key project partners, including representatives from Phu Quoc Petroleum Operating Company (PQPOC), PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC), OceanSTAR Elite (OSE), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and StrongWind (NTSW). Their presence reflects the strong collaboration and close partnership behind the project. Benefiting from the efficient cooperation between OSE, the client, and all partners, the project is progressing steadily and ahead of schedule.
The Block B FSO Project is a key component of Vietnam’s integrated gas development program, located offshore in the southwest of Vietnam and to be installed in water depths of approximately 80 meters. The unit adopts an external turret mooring system, with a min storage of 350,000 barrels, and is designed for 25 years of continuous operation. First production is planned for the third quarter of 2027. By integrating advanced technologies, the project aims to enhance energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and support the long-term stable operation of offshore oil and gas fields.
